Hi,
Can anybody suggest a good secondary weapon for my caldari scout. Below i will give my setup and why i seek some advice/opinion. Read the situation because it will explain the need better.
current setup. First off I do have proto level but I am a cheap skate so I like to use the basic scout. Sometimes I use the advance but, even that I think is a bit too expensive. I only use the proto to show it off at the war room in factional battles. I think it looks sexy as heck. Anyways, below is my setup. Remember this is somewhat of a cheapskate set up.
caldari basic scout (although it is at proto skill level) on the left:
1 complex profile enhancer (unfortunately is complex of bust. either 2 advance shield extenders or 1 shield 1 advance damage mod. Still debating as to which one is better.
on the right:
1 advance kinetic cat. I could use a profile damp but, I find running fast more useful.
weapons:
basic assault riffle (sorry, haven't spec into combat rifle) basic smg
The situation:
This set up works fine for the most part but, I run into situations that the weapons are simply not enough. As luck would have it I keep running head first into heavys. Is simply just bad luck. As you can imagine the assault rifle I use is not powerful enough. My alternative would be to use the shotgun but, there is just one little problem with the shotgun. I suck at it. I mean, if Linda Lovelace played dust, me using the shotgun still would suck more than her. Simply put, I always run into a situation where I need the power of the shotgun but, I don't have it or I do have the shotgun and everybody is out of reach/range. It makes me mad because my other corp members who are shotgunners do wonders with it. So, the solution is the secondary weapon. I need something powerful. I imagine I could level up the smg. The smg has worked well as a secondary but, i figure why not ask the experts first. |

Assumption #2 We don't punch above our weight. We know our primary and secondary weapon DPS. We know our target's HP (thanks to TacNet). We guestimate our target's time-to-kill before we engage. If TTK is too long, we do not engage.
Assumption #3 Most Heavies are not clever. If we're using low-DPS weaponry, we use that weaponry to lure the Heavy into a previously placed RE or to distract the Heavy while a wingman engages from his flank.
I think this is the most useful advice yet. Thanks. It looks obvious but, I am guilty of violating these tenements. Especially #2 |
